The Appraisal Foundation was authorized by Congress to develop the Uniform Standard of Professional Appraisal Practice (USPAP)  www.appraisalfoundation.org
The Hudson Valley Chapter includes members who provide expert appraisal services in the areas of Personal Property, Real Property, Business Valuation, Machinery and Technical Specialties, and Gems and Jewelry.  Its members are located throughout the Hudson Valley, from as far south as New Rochelle to north of Albany and as far west as Binghamton. We travel throughout New England, New York, and the entire United States dependent upon the assignment. All fees are determined by a schedule of fees maintained by the appraiser, and all expenses are associated with the time expended in an assignment without any ties to the value of the property being appraised. Appraisal Document

An appraisal report is a legal document that determines the value of your property for a specific purpose. The appraisal is a valuation of property provided by a professional appraiser such as those designated by ASA. A professional appraiser will prepare a comprehensive report for their clients which provides his/her opinion of value at a given point in time for any type of property whether it be a business, an artist's estate, a diamond,  an antique table, an industrial complex,  technology center, a sculpture, the contents of a house or more. Preparing the appraisal involves research, analysis of all pertinent information and the proper experience, knowledge and judgment to make a reasonable and supportable opinion of value.

There are all different types of appraisers as there are all different types of properties. ASA is the source to find professional appraisers for all types of property including business assets, common stock, real estate, personal property, intangible property, machinery, equipment and technical specialties. There are a wide variety of reasons that drive demand for independent appraisals—some are required by law and others are for assurance, risk mitigation, impartiality and objectivity.
